harvey's election i think made people take notice. i think that george's, george's proclivities were always in and around social justice. i know that he was raised catholic. so was i. 16 years of catholic school has made me the man i am today. what is ironic the members don't put it into the actual work when elected and at the time i think it was true and i was disillusioned at that point and i asked him to prove me wrong and he did. he was diligent and wrote comments in the margin and questions large and small they provoked. he met with people and met with teams how to improve things. he connected with other community college board members to see how they ran. he seeked out advice and only the board member who gave out email and phone number to the public and he got calls from students and others waiting to advocate for them. this is reminding he and when swearing in would lift up the boys so they could be near him. don't touch that. i think -- i was going to say what john said. when he was really ill he still went to the meetings. he went to one after having pneumonia and then came home. even toward the end of his life he went to meetings and pushed for accountability and change. he wasn't as shocked as i was by the campaign but was shocked -- >> [inaudible] >> you know what sweetie? there are a bunch of toys over there.

elections, and after my dad ran you helped my brother run. the same people helping us, being part of the family, working together for the city. i remember some of the crazy things we did growing up in political life. going to i think it's call -- i don't know if it's called the muni lot or parking lot and where the buss are in the morning so we could put a handout on every seat and bus that was there. i remember standing out in front of markets and it was raining and horrible and saying "will you vote for my dad" and milton loved this. he loved this energy and out of most of us and showed in what he ended up doing. all three kids learned at an early age giving to other people was one of the main things we were put on this world to do. our mom and dad taught us that. milton was a true believer sometimes to his detriment and would take on any power he needed to be even if it meant being fired from the board and "you're not doing enough. you're not raising enough money". he would take on anyone anytime if it was the right thing to do. he felt so

it was our personal belief that if you could fight or die for the country or vote in an election, you should be able to go to a party. [applause] the folks that we were working with at the police department were hesitant about that. to address their concerns we agreed to very stringent beer gardens, which we did not feel like needed, but we did it in order to produce the event. later, we found out it would not be an 18 and older event. it essentially became a non- negotiable item. if we wanted them to sign off on the permit, with a bar, which was a major revenue stream, we had to be 21 and over. being a promoter and organizer with a long history of doing these events without problems, with a curved track record, that seemed like a perfect result. the police requirement at the event looked like two cops, with no problems with nothing to do, there were five officers at the event now, which we had to pay overtime fees for. trying to discuss this with the officers, public safety is brought up and it is very important to me and to us. i mentioned that i had another life as a part-time psyc
